I don't know what it is, but I have been getting these lapses where I don't update. *shrug* Oh well, what can you do? Heck, it's seemed lately as if everyone has more or less quit using LiveJournal. But I digress. The point is to update you on what's been going on in my world, right?
Since my last
real update, on Saturday, I've not done much of anything special. I had payroll as usual on Sunday morning, but this time, I felt better than I have in a while. I mean mentally, that is. I was more positive, more energetic, and more productive than in a while. Of course, I am taking Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off, because Tuesday (yes, today folks) is my birthday. I have always been of the opinion that I shouldn't have to work on my birthday. That doesn't mean that I suddently have something to do. I just don't feel I should work. Hey, that's how I am. Live with it.
We gamed on Sunday, and it went great. For those who care, I'll post that a little bit from now. I'm saving those who don't want to read about it. I did absolutely
nothing on Monday. I made it to my computer chair, and there I stayed. I downloaded a bunch of hacks for GTA3. I added some new roads, new cars, and new player skins. Neat. (That doesn't count as cheating, does it
jartravian? :) ) I went to bed, listening to selected tracks from
Power Symphony's Lightbringer album. I must say, if you can find it, give "The Way of the Sword" a listen. Well worth it. But, I digress (again)..
Today, I woke up, and got dressed. I decided today was my day, and I was going to enjoy it by buying stuff. (Who's with me there? :) ) I went to Waldenbooks to get
Crossroads of Twilight, the new Robert Jordan novel from his Wheel of Time series. After that, I stopped by Turtle's Music to find Power Symphony's CD. Nothing. Comics 'n' Collectibles yielded five comic books (
Crux #21,
Meridian #31,
New X-Men #134, and
X-Treme X-Men Xpose #1 and #2). I went to Borders, hoping to find the Power Symphony CD. Nope. Instead, I found Forge #2 and #3. These are like graphic novels, but they are more like anthologies. Neat way to keep up with comics. ($9.95 for about 8 different comics-worth of material). I then fell prey to that which I cannot resist: Neil Gaiman. I remembered that he had another novel out, named
Coraline. I found it, bought my stuff, and left for home.
I grabbed lunch at Wendy's, and not only was my Triple appropriately greasy, but I got smiling, helpful, pleasent service. AT A WENDY'S IN FRAYSER! *faint*
Arriving at home, my mom surprised me with my aunt's birthday present to me: a Darth Vader keepsake ornament. I thought it was neat, until I turned it over. On the back, taped neatly, was a Barnes and Noble gift card. The cruel sense of irony was not lost on me, given that I had just been to
TWO different bookstores. Oh well.
I cleaned my room, and finally decided to get out my graphic novels. I dug for around an hour, and got down
Astro City TPb,
Shi: The Way of the Warrior, vols. 1 & 2, and the
WildC.A.T.S Compendium. (Hey, don't laugh about the WildC.A.T.S. They used to be a pretty good book, and this collected the original mini-series.
Eventually, the gift card wore me down, and I ran to Barnes and Noble to get some novels with my "free" money. I left with:
- Kristen Britain's Green Rider
- Stephen R. Donaldson's Lord Foul's Bane*
- David Gemmell's Hero in the Shadows
- Dennis L. McKiernan's The Eye of the Hunter
Needless to say, I have a lot of reading to do, huh? First on the list, though, is definitely
Crossroads of Twilight. I am going to do a little prep work for Friday's Wheel of Time RPG, double check things for Sunday's Silver Marches game, and then I'm reading until I fall asleep.
Oh, and tomorrow, I'm taking my boxes of comics to Comic Cellar to swap for fresh, new comics I actually want to read. :) Tomorrow is comic day, after all.

I finally decided to get something related to this infamous "Thomas Covenant" I'm always hearing about. He better be a good read.
